Description | This workshop will provide an overview of what trauma is and its long-lasting and sometimes hidden adverse effects on the mental health of children and families. Attendees will learn how to identify trauma symptoms and gain an understanding of trauma-informed practices to help those who have experienced trauma.

Leading the workshop is Joan Gillece, Ph.D., Director of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for Trauma Informed Care, and Director of the National Association of State Mental Health Programs Directors’ Center for Innovation in Trauma-Informed Approaches.

*NOTES* | Directions, parking instructions, and additional details will be sent prior to the training. To participate in this training, you MUST be a current CASA volunteer, staff, board member or child welfare professional (social worker, children’s attorney, etc.). Pre-registration is required.
