Before I moved to Baltimore two years ago, I had the opportunity to work at a non-profit agency called Worcester Youth & Family Counseling Services in Berlin, MD. The agency housed a local CASA program, and I had the privilege to work with the program to help raise funds. I felt very passionate about the purpose behind CASA and knew firsthand how much of an impact it and the CASA volunteers had on the community.
Recently, I have been given the title of Miss Inner Harbor United States, and will be competing in the upcoming Ms. Maryland pageant in January. As my platform, I am dedicating my efforts to raise awareness of CASA and to help raise money for this amazing organization. I’ve always wanted to run a half marathon, but hurt my knee last year. I just started running again, and when I saw that CASA had a charity Team in the Baltimore Running Festival, I knew immediately that I wanted to join! I’ve pledged to raise $500, and I’m working diligently to get support to help me reach my goal.
I couldn’t be more excited about wearing my Team CASA shirt and running with other CASA supporters this October!
