Thank you to all participants, sponsors and volunteers who contributed to this year’s record-breaking fundraising efforts. With the help of 140 staff members and supporters of the Maryland CASA Association and local CASA programs, we were able to raise over $43,000 to support efforts to recruit CASA volunteers for Maryland’s children in need. If you haven’t checked your race results, you can find them on the Baltimore Running Festival website.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our platinum sponsors, Capital One and Mars Supermarkets. Though we fell short of our $50,000 goal, we had a great turnout and set a new fundraising record. These funds will go a long way toward supporting Maryland CASA’s services on behalf of the state’s abused and neglected children.
Last year, CASA volunteers statewide served over 1,500 children. Though nearly 400 new volunteers completed pre-service training last year, 9 out of 10 of the approximately 10,000 children under the protection of the courts still have no advocates speaking up for their best interests.
By raising funds and awareness for Maryland CASA Association, you have taken a giant step to help us reach our goal of providing a CASA volunteer for every Maryland foster child. Next year’s Baltimore Running Festival will take place on October 18, 2014.
