A Message From The Director
Thank you for your interest in Voices For Children Montgomery (VFCM)! VFCM’s volunteer advocates are dedicated to ensuring that children who have been abused and neglected reach safe, permanent, and loving homes and that they receive every needed service while in foster care. CASA volunteers are truly “everyday heroes” who have made a critical difference in the lives of hundreds of our community’s most vulnerable children. Despite that success, VFCM is currently serving only half of the children in foster care. Contact us to learn more about the ways in which you can support VFCM’s goal of providing an advocate for every child in foster care.
— Francha Davis, Executive Director
What Is Voices For Children, Montgomery?
Voices For Children Montgomery (VFCM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to train and support volunteer advocates for children in Montgomery County foster care.
This mission is accomplished through the recruitment, training and on-going support and supervision of volunteers from the community who are appointed by the Juvenile Court judges to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for these children. CASA Volunteers serve as voices for one of our most vulnerable populations – children who have been abused or neglected.
VFCM is partially funded by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, the State of Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts, and the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention. Approximately half of VFCM’sannual operating budget must be raised through private sources including foundations, community organizations, and individual and corporate donations.
What Is The Need?
Since 1987, Voices For Children Montgomery (formerly CASA of Montgomery County, Inc.) has trained nearly more than 2,350 volunteers to serve as advocates for more than 2,500 children. Despite this success, the voices of children who have been abused and neglected here in Montgomery County are not being heard due to a lack of volunteers.
