Maryland CASA Announces New Members to Board of Directors

(Jan. 27, 2016) – Maryland Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, a non-profit organization that supports the work of 15 local CASA programs throughout the state to ensure Maryland’s victims of child abuse and neglect their right to safe, permanent homes, announced today that three new members have been appointed to its Board of Directors.The new board members are: Greg Corneille of Owings Mills, Leslie Taylor of Forest Hill, and Geanelle G. Herring of Randallstown.“We are thrilled to welcome Greg, Leslie, and Geanelle to the Maryland CASA board,” said Ed Kilcullen, Maryland CASA’s state director. “Each of them brings much-needed expertise, as well as new energy and ideas to the board and we thank them for their dedication to Maryland’s abused and neglected children.” Greg Corneille is the president of Axcel Capital Management, LLC; a firm based in Pasadena, Md. that specializes in strategic investment management solutions and financial planning. With over 10 years of industry experience, he has advised clients on individual and business retirement planning solutions, equity investments, insurance needs, and estate and tax planning considerations. Prior to his financial services career, he served as a Military Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army.A Hampton University graduate, Corneille holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation from the University for Financial Planning. In addition to his newfound dedication to Maryland’s most vulnerable children, Corneille is also a member of the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce. Leslie Taylor currently works as a hospital operations supervisor for Union Hospital, located in Elkton, Md., where she is responsible for all clinical, operational, administrative and fiscal components of the acute care community hospital. Taylor received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The University of Maine, and later went on to attain her Master of Science in Executive Administration from The University of Maryland.“Working in a hospital setting has exposed me to how abuse and neglect can impact a child,” said Taylor. “I think these experiences have helped me to understand the complexity of these situations and will provide me with the skillset necessary to support CASA’s mission,” she added. Geanelle G. Herring works as a Policy Analyst for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in Woodlawn, MD, where she is responsible for communicating, drafting and coordinating Federal legislations, regulations, and policies for the healthcare industry and its programs. A University of Maryland School of Social Work graduate, Mrs. Herring is excited to join the Maryland CASA Board and service her community by helping children in need.“The work that Maryland CASA does for vulnerable children throughout the state is very near and dear to my heart,” said Mrs. Herring. “I became familiar with the work of CASA early into my social work career while investigating cases of abuse and neglect of children in Baltimore City; many of which had CASA volunteers assigned to them,” she added.In addition to her continued support of Maryland’s abused and neglected children, Mrs. Herring is also involved with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Patapsco River (MD) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated and the Junior League of Baltimore.
