Meet Carrie Loughry, Public Relations & Communication Intern

Carrie Loughry is Maryland CASA’s Spring 2017 PR & Communications intern. She is a senior at Towson University studying mass communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in English. Previously, she interned at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the development office during the summer of 2016. She worked on a variety of projects including a planned giving ad, email appeals for the annual gala, and many press releases. She credits the releases and the ad as strengthening the skills she will use most at Maryland CASA.What drew Carrie to Maryland CASA was the desire to work with a nonprofit and wanting to find one whose mission she believed in. When she discovered Maryland CASA and the amazing work it does for abused and neglected children, she knew it would be a perfect fit! Carrie is excited to help run social media accounts for CASA, strengthen her graphic design skills, and interview volunteers for Volunteer Spotlights.Carrie currently lives in Aberdeen, Maryland but is originally from Fort Ashby, West Virginia which she describes as a typical one traffic light small town. Some of her hobbies include reading, especially historical fiction, traveling, and blogging. She started a blog about her travels when she went to London in January to study abroad. It is a work in progress, but it is a fun way for her to document her trips. Carrie has one older step-sister and a nephew who is the light of her life.

Welcome, Carrie!
