Meet Theresa Olson, A True "Champion For Children"!
For many, becoming a CASA volunteer and working directly with children is their way to give back to their communities and help make a difference. For others who aren’t able to volunteer (not because they don’t have the heart), providing support to Maryland CASA on a recurring basis is just as rewarding!Please meet Theresa Olson – a member of our Champions for Children giving club since August 2016 – whose connection to CASA runs deep, and her commitment to our cause is unwavering.Theresa first heard about CASA when she joined a sisterhood of unique, confident, ambitious, and determined women: Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity. For the past 25 years, KAT has designated CASA as their national philanthropy to impact the lives of foster children.“CASA means the world to me,” says Theresa. “In high school, I learned American Sign Language. This area has a large Deaf community and it frustrates me that there were so many local people that I couldn't communicate with. In college, I learned about CASA and the children it serves. This brought to light a new type of communication gap: these kids often couldn't convey the reality of their situations or their needs. CASA gives them that voice."While becoming a CASA volunteer is not in the cards for Theresa at this point in her life, she stays closely connected to our cause.You, too, can step forward and help make a profound difference in the lives of Maryland’s abused and neglected children.
