No special experience is needed to become a CASA volunteer. After applying, the prospective volunteer will undergo screening and extensive training before being appointed by the court to a child’s case.“My years of experience as a teacher, supervisor, and principal in an urban school environment motivated me to become a CASA volunteer,” said Rhoda Jones, a Baltimore City CASA Volunteer since December of 2008. “Abused and neglected children need to know that CASA cares and is committed to being their advocate,” said Jones. “We need more volunteers to advocate for these children,” she added. If interested in receiving more information, please visit www.casabalt.org or contact Nancy Raskin Volunteer Recruitment Manager for the organization at nraskin@casabalt.org or 410-244-1465.About CASA of BaltimoreFounded in 1988, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Baltimore, Inc. serves abused and neglected children by representing their voices in the Baltimore City court system and advocating for their best interests in the judicial, educational, medical and social service communities.
