Maryland CASA Association Welcomes Barbra Diaz as Associate Director for Program Services

(Carroll County, Maryland October 27, 2022) Maryland CASA Association hires Barbra Diaz as the new Associate Director for Program Services. Prior, Diaz served CASA as a volunteer, was a Case Supervisor with CASA of Carroll County for four years, and in 2021 took a position with the Circuit Court for Carroll County. “Although I stepped away briefly from CASA,” Diaz said, “I have kept an ear to what has been happening at the local, state, and national levels as it relates to child welfare programs. I’m absolutely thrilled to have an opportunity to join the Maryland CASA team. The CASA programs and CASA volunteers are a vital component of a successful child welfare program.”  Diaz has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from York College of Pennsylvania, and a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Art from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. As the Associate Director for Program Services Diaz will be responsible for providing technical and training support to local CASA programs across the state with the goal of serving more abused and neglected children and youth in Maryland. When asked, Diaz said, "I hope to provide the utmost support for all current statewide CASA programs while looking to ensure that Maryland CASA continues to expand our reach and to highlight the amazing work that CASA does."“We are happy to welcome Barbra back to CASA," said Ed Kilcullen, Maryland CASA’s outgoing State Director. "Her experience with the CASA program in Carroll & Frederick Counties, and her commitment to the welfare of children, will be great assets to the Maryland CASA team and to our 14 affiliated CASA programs."     A resident of Carroll County, Maryland, Diaz lives with her husband and two daughters, and hopes to soon complete the adoption process for their 16-month-old son. As an avid nature and water lover, Diaz can be found kayaking and boating, or starting a new art project and getting lost in a book in her free time. About Maryland CASA Association Maryland CASA Association was founded in 1998 to facilitate the continued development and success of Maryland’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs to ensure that every abused and neglected child in the State has a safe, permanent home.  This mission is carried out in partnership with 14 local CASA programs that recruit and train volunteers to advocate for children under court protection.
