FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEMaryland CASA Association Welcomes Camille Davis as its New State Director (Towson, MD, October 4, 2022) Camille Davis, originally from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the new State Director for Maryland CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Association after the current State Director, Ed Kilcullen, announced his retirement earlier in the year.  Davis will assume her State Director duties beginning October 24, 2022.  Davis holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. As the new State Director, Davis will be responsible for the overall management of the organization’s operations including the efforts to increase the quantity and quality of services across the state in collaboration with 14 local CASA affiliates, aiding in the start-up of new CASA programs where needed, and recruiting and training of volunteers to provide CASA services to abused and neglected children throughout the State of Maryland.  Departing State Director, Ed Kilcullen said, "After 24 years as the State Director for Maryland CASA, I am happy to welcome Camille to this post.  She has a wealth of experience working with vulnerable children and youth who are involved in the child welfare system, as well as a personal connection to CASA, so I think she will be a strong asset to continue the great work that Maryland CASA has done for more than two decades."  Board President, Jackie Bowie said, “The Maryland CASA Board is excited to work with Camille as our next State Director. She has an impressive breadth and depth of experience, and we are confident Maryland CASA will continue to thrive under her leadership.”     Davis has personally seen the positive impact a CASA can make in a child's life and hopes to continue the Maryland CASA mission to advocate for safe, permanent homes for children and youth in Maryland who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, and living under court protection.  “All children should feel a sense of belonging and safety,” Davis said. “A CASA volunteer, trained and empowered, can help to make that happen. I’m excited to join the staff at Maryland CASA and believe my 17 years of child welfare experience in Texas will aid in my ability to lead an already strong team.”  Davis plans to settle her family in Frederick, Maryland in November 2022 and enjoys spending time with her daughter, vacationing near the shore, and spending time with friends and family. About Maryland CASA Association Maryland CASA Association was founded in 1998 to facilitate the continued development and success of Maryland’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs to ensure that every abused and neglected child in the State has a safe, permanent home.  This mission is carried out in partnership with 14 local CASA programs that recruit and train volunteers to advocate for children under court protection.
