Meet Patrice Groody, Maryland CASA's Spring 2018 Non-profit Management Intern!

Patrice Groody is Maryland CASA’s Spring 2018 Non-profit Management intern. Patrice is a senior at Towson University scheduled to graduate in May 2018. She is earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Management. Patrice stumbled across Maryland CASA’s internship opportunity while browsing Towson’s handshake website in search for a Spring 2018 internship. After doing some research on Maryland CASA’s organization, Patrice became fascinated in learning more about non-profits. She wanted to help make a difference by contributing to CASA's mission to ensure that abused and neglected children are raised in a healthy, safe, and positive environments. Before interning at Maryland CASA, in the summer of 2017, Patrice was a Media Partner Intern at Videology in Baltimore. Some of her duties included reviewing publishers and websites assuring adherence to Videology’s premium brand and guidelines; using Videology’s bespoke technology to remove publishers that are operating outside of the brand safety guidelines. Patrice explains, “I have gained team building skills and overcome many tough situations being an athlete at Towson; I am excited to bring those skills into my internship.” At Maryland CASA, Patrice is looking to gain knowledge on how a non-profit organization differs from other for-profit companies. Some of her duties during this internship will be to help with new program development, keeping up with legislative and public policies, and helping with public awareness and communications.Patrice grew up moving from location to location due to her father’s service in the Navy but has lived in Crofton, Maryland for most of her life. She currently lives in Towson, Maryland while attending school. Some of Patrice’s hobbies include playing field hockey, going to the beach, and spending time with her dog, Louie. Her career goals for after she graduates are to pursue additional schooling or certifications and to serve and support others. “My background in and passion for volunteering motivates me to make a difference through my work at CASA”, she says.Welcome, Patrice!
