WHAT IS DEIAB?

DEIAB is an acronym that guides the work we do at Maryland CASA Association. We strive to foster a community that reflects our commitment to DEIAB — Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging. These five principles help us visualize a better world, in which we all feel respected and welcome.

Maryland CASA Association’s Commitment To

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Belonging

At Maryland CASA we acknowledge the necessity for DEIAB and celebrate diversity. Our DEIAB efforts align with our mission and vision to advocate for all children of a variety of backgrounds in the foster care system. We understand to be able to serve our communities adequately and successfully, we must be culturally aware, educated, and competent.

Our goal is to be a multicultural organization that fosters a safe environment to grow, learn, and enhance cultural awareness and competence. We strive to achieve our goals by holding space for courageous conversations, offering DEIAB workshops and trainings, providing cross-cultural assessments, partnering with DEIAB consulting professionals, hiring a DEIAB Program Assistant, and more.

Our commitment to this work is about developing culturally competent professionals who are empowered to bridge the gap between people, families, and children with a variety of backgrounds. Our approach to this work is having empathy and patience for growing learners and building harmony and unity within our communities.
