#WhyWeRun | Meet Morgan, Ashley, and Rebecca

Note: If you are a Team CASA Runner or Walker who is reading, share this post to your Facebook or Twitter – be sure to include a link to your personal fundraising page and ask your friends, family, and co-workers to support your race!CASA volunteer Marie* met three young sisters, Morgan* (8), Ashley* (6), and Rebecca* (4), early in their case. Marie also met their parents, both of whom had been through difficult times due to mental illness. The children’s mother, Hannah*, was hesitant at first, but she learned quickly that Marie wanted to see her succeed so that the family could be together again. Hannah brought up questions to Marie when she felt insecure about her ability to complete all of what the court had ordered.Marie advocated that it was best for the children for Hannah to have clear information about changes in visitation and all of the required services. This helped Hannah to stay focused and create a strong plan for having the children return to her care. The children are now living with Hannah and she has learned to reach out for help when she needs it.Did you know that each mile ran (or walked) and dollar raised by Team CASA at the Baltimore Running Festival helps us to recruit and train more volunteers, like Marie, to help abused and neglected children throughout Maryland? There are only three short days before the Running Festival and we are $15,000 shy of our fundraising goal! Please consider a $50 gift to Team CASA today and help us continue to make a difference for families in need.*Names & identifying details have been changed to maintain the confidentiality of this case.
